USA: Art and Art History in New York City

This course offers you the opportunity to learn about art and art history by touring New York City's most significant art museums and observing the workings of the contemporary art world. The course will also include a significant classroom component on campus to prepare you and to contextualize the art and institutions we will see and visit. This course counts toward the art history requirements for studio art majors.

USA: How the Sausage Gets Made: Politics and Policy in Washington, DC

You will travel to Washington, DC to build understanding in both the political process and policymaking. You will meet with recent, mid-, and late-career USD alumni, among others, to understand how a degree from the Department of Political Science at USD can launch your career in Washington, DC. You will learn what USD alumni wish they would have known, experience some of the diversity of careers available to you, and see how the sausage is made.

Australia: Comparative Development and Commercialization of Medical Devices

In this program, you will explore the process of developing durable medical equipment through on-site discussion and exploration of research lab, development, and manufacturing facilities located in Sydney, Australia. DMEs are medically necessary devices prescribed by a health care provider to aid in, contribute to, provide monitoring of, or treatment for a medical condition. As such, health care providers must possess knowledge of DMEs.

Spain: Global Education

This program will visit cities that are illustrative of the Spanish culture including Madrid, Toledo, Seville and Marbella.  The participants will visit at least two international schools and be immersed in the arts, religion, culture, language and education of Spain.  Excursions include the Royal Palace in Madrid, National Del Prado Art Museum, Toledo Cathedral, Alcazar of Toledo, Alhambra, Seville Cathedral, Marbella Old Quarter and many other amazing sites. 

Canada: The United States and Global Healthcare Systems

This immersive, interactive experience explores the evolution, celebration, and future of human rights. In this program you will engage in discussion about human rights, indigenous populations, and health care as a basic human right and hopefully be inspired to make a difference in the lives of others and work toward erasing barriers and promoting meaningful, lasting change.

China: Summer in Jinan

Spend a month studying at the University of Jinan.  Students will take two courses including a Chinese class, learn tai chi and calligraphy, stay in a furnished dorm room, eat in the UJN dining hall and enjoy recreational facilities on campus.  In addition, you can visit Beijing, the Great Wall, The Forbidden City and Mount Tai.
